Camps & Station Visits
During the year there are a lot of chances to go on camp, or to visit RAF stations. Every year there are at least one summer and one easter camp run at an RAF station around the country. These are great opportunities to explore things out side the ATC, and have a look around a operational RAF station. They also allow you to meet other cadets form other local squadrons, and no doubt you will make some new friends.
The camps usually run for a week and are very good value for money. The activities on camp usually include lots of different activities including, flying and gliding, section visits, drill, shooting, inter-flight competitions, sport, map reading and night ex’s, although every camp will have a different itinerary. Although the accommodation isn’t always luxurious (sometimes tents!) as soon as you have had your first night you will have got organised and settled in. The food on camp is usually provided at the junior ranks mess, and is always very good, with cook breakfast and a full lunch and dinner, unless you are out and about, in which case a packed lunch will be provided.
When you arrive you are usually split into flights, and throughout the camp everything you do, from room inspections to drill competitions, will be marked and your flight will be awarded your points. At the end of the camp the winning flight will be awarded with a certificate, along with the best cadet and NCO of the camp awards. You usually have chance to go to different stations during your camp, to see how they run, or to go flying, so you will have a nice list of stations you have visited when you get back.

At other times there is also the opportunity to visit stations either for works experience or to have a look around. When you go flying and gliding you will visit a station, and you will usually be able to have a look around if your not flying.
